Drumaheagles unviel new uniforms at annual parade

DRUMAHEAGLES band wore their new uniforms for the first time on Saturday night at their annual band parade in Ballymoney - and the Times was treated to a preview before the official 'unveiling'.

Assistant bandmaster, Mark McMullan, revealed that his fellow bandsmen were not even allowed to put on the uniforms until they were ready to parade, but he allowed us a sneak preview.

Keeping a discreet distance from other bandsmen, Mark donned the uniform before putting it back into its cover and into a locked van.

The uniforms which keep red as the main colour cost the band a tidy sum, but officials say they were well worth it.

It has been five years since the last change.

Saturday night's parade was well attended by visiting bands and a large crowd was present not only to see the procession, but to also hear music played by vaious bands on a stand at The Diamond as well as a display of Lambeg drumming at Castlecroft.
