Curtain up for LMS '˜Seven Brides'

The award-winning performers open in the Forum tonight (Wednesday, April 5) in the musical which was made famous by the Howard Keel movie of the same name.

The show runs nightly at 8pm until this Saturday, April 8.

During the 1850s, Milly, a pretty young cook, marries Adam, a grizzled woodsman, after a brief courtship.

When the two return to Adam’s farm, Milly is shocked to meet his six ill-mannered brothers, all of whom live in his cabin.

She promptly begins teaching the brothers proper behavior, and most importantly, how to court a woman.

But after the brothers kidnap six local girls during a town barn-raising, a group of indignant villagers tries to track them down.

This ever-green musical features some wonderful songs such as ‘Goin Courtin’, ‘Sobbin’ Women’, ‘Wonderful, Wonderful Day’ and of course, the most famous of them all ‘Bless Your Beautiful Hide’.

Emer McCafferty and David Keown take on the lead roles of Millie and Adam in this fabulous production and they will be no strangers to LMS audiences.

Last year, they wowed their audiences with their performances in Sister Act as Deloris Van Cartier and Officer Eddie Souther.

The other brothers are Rory Mullan as Benjamin; Simon Quigg as Caleb; Eoin Callaghan as Daniel; Gregg Parkhill as Ephraim; Thorin Coffey as Frank and Robert Kelly as Gideon.

The ‘brides’ for the ‘brothers’ are played by Aine O’Riordan (Alice); Niamh Long (Sarah); Zoe Kyte (Martha); Hannah Deane as Liza; Amy Smith as Ruth and Amy Kilgore as Dorcas.

Also appearing on stage in ‘Seven Brides for Seven Brothers’ are Judith O’Kane, Greg Doherty, Joanne Palmer and Brendan Brady.
