Cullybackey Road development backed despite objections

The application by Mr James Hill is to build a housing development consisting of three town houses, two semi-detached houses and two detached dwellings on land at 245 Cullybackey Road.

At last Thursday night’s Spatial Planning Committee Alderman Maurice Mills warned that despite the approval there were still concerns surrounding the proposals and unhappiness remains with “certain aspects.”

Mr James Hill was in attendance at the meeting at last Thursday night’s Spatial Planning Committee where members voiced their views on the potential development.

Councillor Roy Gillespie said: “I welcome this very much indeed. This will bring jobs to the area. I know the council are always looking to clean up areas, this will clean up this eye sore once and for all.”

Councillor Tommy Nicholl said: “I feel that anything on that site is an improvement. I was speaking to the developer and he is enthusiastic about this site. The people that have objected to this development are changing their minds.”

A planning officer said: “I have noted Councillor Mills concerns, the department is satisfied the objections raised have been addressed.”
