Vigilence urged

Police are warning members of the public to be vigilant following reports of distraction thefts in Derry last week.

It’s understood two men entered a coffee shop and fast food restaurant in the Crescent Link area on Thursday 6th September. They proceeded to distribute leaflets on tables and a shortly time later some customers reported their mobile phones had been stolen from their tables. The men were also seen in the area on Sunday, 9.

The two men are described as being Asian in appearance and tall in height. One of the men had a thin build with two gold, top front teeth. He was wearing a dark coloured leather jacket with grey trousers and a white cap. The second male is described as medium build with a white shirt and dark blazer.

Police are asking people to be vigilant and to look after their valuables to deter opportunist thieves. Anyone who can help identify these males is asked to contact Strand Road police station.
