Driving ban for footballer

A professional Cliftonville footballer from Londonderry was disqualified from driving for eight weeks by District Judge Barney McElholm after he accumulated 12 penalty points in a three year period.

David McDaid (24), of The Meadows ran a red light on December 29 last. The court hear he already had nine points on his licence.

Imposing the ban and fine, District Judge McElholm said that this unfortunately this took McDaid up to the end of the season.

McDaid was also fined £100.
