Carrickfergus PSNI programme highlights the dangers of knife crime

A PSNI team has given a talk to young people in Carrickfergus on the dangers of knife crime.

The event last Friday evening (September 24) was part of a mentorship programme run in conjunction with Glasgow Rangers Football Club.

A post on the Police Mid and East Antrim page read: "If you were in the vicinity of Taylor’s Avenue earlier this evening, and heard a man squealing, don’t panic - it was one of the Neighbourhood officers who had ‘volunteered’ for a demonstration with Police Dog Echo!

"Our colleagues from the Dog section and the Armed Response Unit came along to Carrick Rangers to give a talk to the young people about the dangers of knife crime and to show what our police dogs can do.

"Police Dog Echo and Police Dog Dexter were the stars of the show, but there were also plenty of questions about the different pieces of equipment available to our Armed Response Unit officers.

"We hope this was a valuable evening for the young people and will help them to make sensible decisions that will help to keep them safe in the future."
