Concern prompts picket

TWO WHITE line pickets have been staged by Concerned Parents Against Drugs in the town.

Organisers said 80 people turned out in the Taghnevan estate, to stand in solidarity against the drug dealers and to send a message the drug dealers are not welcome.

A spokesperson said: “These white line pickets were organised by CPAD as we have been inundated with calls from concerned parents in the last number of weeks after an incident in Lurgan whereby a number of young people found a large bag of drugs known as ‘Blues’. These ‘Blues’ were passed around and taken by our vulnerable young people, as a result a number of them became seriously ill and were hospitalised. Thankfully all the young people recovered but parents were naturally concerned that the next time they might not be so lucky.”

CPAD staged a further picket at Shankill estate on Tuesday. A third takes place in Kilwilke estate tonight (Thursday) at 8pm meeting at Magills shop.
