Colourful Foyle Pride parade marks 20th anniversary
The first incarnation of Foyle Gay Pride kicked off in 1993 when a small group of committed activists decided it was time to make a visible stand and show the city that there was a thriving community that was being ignored and the wider community was not aware existed.
A celebration of the LGBT community, Foyle Pride is now seen as a significant event in Derry~Londonderry’s cultural calendar, attracting thousands of people to the range of music events, exhibitions, theatre productions, lectures and discussions, enhancing the city’s reputation as an enjoyable, welcoming and safe place.
The Foyle Pride Parade itself is a spectacular and colourful event, held on Saturday, over the August bank holiday weekend.
