Collided with a cyclist

AS he turned into a road a Craigavon motorist collided with a cyclist on his inside, the local court heard last Thursday.

He was 59-year-old James Gargan, of Drumbeg, Craigavon, and he was fined 50, with three penalty points, for driving without due care and attention on January 19.

The court heard that the accident happened at the junction of the Portadown Road and Old Portadown Road, Lurgan.

A cyclist was travelling along the Portadown Road in the direction of Portadown.

The defendant overtook him in the outside lane. He turned onto the Old Portadown Road and there was a collision with the cyclist who received cuts and bruising.

Mrs Bronagh McPartland, representing Gargan, said it was an error of judgement on the part of the defendant who had paid 75 to repair the damage to the bike.
