Claudy recycling centre to close

HOUSEHOLDERS in Claudy are advised that the current temporary civic amenity site will be closed for a week from next Monday, May 28 to facilitate the change over to the new permanent Recycling Centre.

Improvements works are nearing completion at the Claudy Recycling Centre with the site set to reopen to the public on Monday, June 4.

Once reopened the facility is reopened to the public, it will open from Monday through to Saturday from 8.00am to 5.00pm.

Householders are advised that during the temporary closure that they should use the facilities at Park as an interim measure.

Shaun Gallagher, Chair of the Environmental Services Committee at Derry City Council said the new Claudy site represented an investment of £250k for the Claudy area and will bring state of the art recycling facilities to the area.

“Derry City Council is delighted that the people of Claudy are getting this improved facility and demonstrates Councils commitment to providing state of the art modern waste management facilities and services.

“It is part of an overall strategy aimed at encouraging the public to recycle more of their waste and reduce landfill through the provision of quality services and facilities.”
