City gets silver Britain in Bloom honour
The Council's Grounds Maintenance Manager, Danny McCartney received a special Community Champion award, in acknowledgement of his efforts and commitment to his work to improve the look of the city.
Extending his congratulations, the Mayor said it was a great achievement for the city.

"There are some fantastic floral displays across the city and we are pleased at the way other statutory agencies and local businesses are also working to improve the look and feel of the city.
"I think its important as we prepare for our year as UK City of Culture in 2013 that we create an environment that is not only pleasing to the eye but which makes locals and visitors feel safe and welcome.
"I would like to extend my congratulations to the Council's ground maintenance team for their efforts and particularly Danny McCartney.
