Cheers Peer Leadership Programme success

A group of Young people from Stranocum and Ballymoney recently completed an Open College Network level 2 course in Peer Leadership at Cheers Youth Centre.

This 10 week course enabled them to develop their leadership skills and explore topics such as team building, decision making, project planning, self and identity and conflict resolution.

Two additional sessions included drugs, alcohol and risk taking behaviours.

Course tutor, Tommie Linton, commented: “I would like to congratulate these young people for their achievements. They came along to the course in their spare time and gained a credible qualification which they can use in the future.

“While this has obvious benefits for them, it should be mentioned that they are also setting a good example to other young people in the area. Well done.”

The course is supported by Ballymoney Community Safety Partnership and Coleraine Rural and Urban Network who are partners along with Cheers Youth Centre in delivering the Peer Leadership programme in the Ballymoney area.
