Causeway Coast and Glens Council news in brief

Advice provision is to be based in locations in Ballycastle, Ballymoney, Bushmills, Coleraine, Cushendall, Dungiven and Limavady, reflecting provision provided by the four legacy Councils.

The matter was raised at the last Leisure and Development Committee Meeting and the full council voted on adopting the minutes at last Tuesday’s meeting

Cllr Beattie said: “I have been contacted by a group in Dungiven who are concerned by the service they will receive.”

Director of Leisure and Development, Richard Baker commented: “The tender is like for like and there will be no funding change. From 1st April 2016 it will depend on DRD funding.”

Health and Safety Presentation

A presentation was made to Council by John King from the Health and Safety Executive.

He praised CC&G as one of the top councils for making a number of changes and dealing with Health and Safety issues and for ‘walking the talk’.

Referring to the death of council worker Alan Devenney at a Coleraine waste disposal depot in 2011 he added: “Coleraine know only too well the consequences of what goes wrong but a lot of good work has come from that. Causeway Coast and Glens now has one of the best H&S teams in the country.”
