Call to nominate local volunteers to carry Olympic torch

VOLUNTEER Now and Lisburn City Council are asking people from the Lisburn area to nominate local volunteers to be an Olympic TorchBearer before the closing date on June 29.

Chairman of the Council’s Leisure Services Committee, Councillor Thomas Beckett said: “June 1-7 is Volunteers’ Week when we recognise and celebrate volunteers in our local communities – this is a great opportunity to really think about the people who make a difference and nominate them to be an Olympic TorchBearer.

Inspirational

Torchbearers should be inspirational people who make a real difference in their locality and I think all the volunteers in our community most definitely fulfil these criteria.”
