Broughshane Spar staff stay in their jammies for NICHS

STAFF at Broughshane SPAR donned their pyjamas for the day in an effort to raise money for the Northern Ireland Chest, Heart and Stroke Foundation.

The initiative, which took place at the Raceview Road shop on March 13 delivered a different shopping experience and customers showed their generosity by donating loose change and helping the store raise a whopping £267.39.

The idea was developed by community fundraising coordinator, Louise Campbell, who is manager of SPAR Castlerock Road in Coleraine and is responsible for the fundraising initiatives of 14 stores. Louise encourages the stores to develop a fundraising campaign every quarter and choose a different charity for the pot.

NI Heart, Chest and Stroke foundation was a particularly personal choice on this occasion, as some members of staff at the store are sadly all too familiar with the tragic effects caused by heart and chest conditions.

David Harrison store manager at SPAR Raveview Road said: “This charity was particularly close to our hearts personally and so our efforts were doubled and customers were very receptive, their generosity is commendable. I’d like to thank all those who donated, small and large amounts; every bit will help this fantastic cause.”
