Auction room McxAfee'ver hits saleroom!

MCAFEE Auctions are getting ready for one of their busiest and most bizarre auctions ever.

On Friday, auctioneer, Gerry McAfee, will have his work cut out for him as he sells everything from furniture to jewellery and football memorabilia to antique saddles as well as dealing with his first national TV appearance.

The popular antiques programme, Flog It! will be there to see how the auction lots brought in by the Northern Ireland public, at a recent valuation day, sell under the hammer of Gerry McAfee, the results of which will be televised in July.

Auction room stalwarts such as Clarice Cliff, Hummel, Moorcroft, Royal Doutlon, Beswick, silver and gold lots and furniture make an appearance and all eyes will be on the County Antrim auctioneer as he gets proceedings going.

Gerry said: “There are nearly 700 lots in this sale but what’s great about it is the variety and quality of the lots. We expect a busy saleroom and we hope that bidding will be boosted by the presence of Flog It! presenter, Paul Martin and experts, Catherine Southon and Will Axon, who will be there to hold the hands of our nervous owners with Flog It! lots to be sold.

People interested in having a look at the items can view them on Wednesday 9th and Thursday the 10th June between 3pm and 5pm and 7pm and 8.30pm as well as 4pm onwards on the day of the sale. The sale begins at 6.30pm on the 11th June.”

Gerry said: “For the boys there is a Liverpool Football Club signed Legends t-shirt, an Accurist wrist watch, a pocket watch, fishing and golf equipment, a banjo, cased Masonic medal, RAF badge and what man pad would be complete without a pair of mounted antlers.

“Ladies won’t be disappointed either as there are sweet dolls, a host of jewellery including platinum and gold arrow brooch, gold earrings, Cameo ring, set of Spanish pearls, a diamond and Sapphire gold ring, and jewellery boxes to keep it all safe.”

“We have a superb Victorian mahogany Admiral Fitzroys Barometer with mounted French clock a piece which will be noticed due to its sheer size, a cold painted bronze figure of a pheasant is sure to ruffle a few feathers, a Steinbeck Grand Piano, a good dress naval hat and a pair of matching epaulets, a fine inlaid mahogany small revolving bookcase and that is really just the tip of the iceberg.

“To get the full impact of the sale we urge people to log onto our website where they can download a copy of the catalogue straight to their home or work computer.”
