Mid Ulster MLA, Ian McCrea and his DUP party colleague Councillor, Anne Forde, condemned the attack on Kilcronaghan Mission Hall outside Tobermore on Saturday night.

“I was appalled to hear that mindless idiots attempted to set Kilcronaghan Mission Hall on fire late on Saturday night and can only but wonder why anyone would stoop so low as to attempt to burn a mission hall,” said Mr McCrea.

“Attacks like these do nothing other than to stoke up community tensions especially with a couple of weeks left to the twelfth of July, however I have no doubt that those responsible do not speak for their community. Regardless of people’s political or religious views, no one has the right to engage in such criminal and hate-filled behaviour in attacking a Mission Hall.”

Councillor Anne Forde said :“As councillor for the area, I visited the scene on Sunday afternoon and I saw for myself the damage that was caused. The idiots who attacked the hall, broke the front door windows and seemed to have thrown something flammable in to set the hall on fire.

“I am disgusted that someone would attempt to burn a Mission Hall and it is only by the grace of God that the fire didn’t ignite and the hall still stands.”

The DUP Politicians called on anyone from across the entire community who may have any information about this attack, to come forward to the Police as soon as possible to help them catch the person/people responsible and ensure that they are brought to justice.
