Assault case is adjourned

An assault case against a Banbridge man has been adjourned so that a pre-sentence report can be obtained.

Martin John King (24), Brookfield Meadows, Banbridge, admitted a charge of common assault last Thursday at the local magistrates’ court.

A prosecutor said that on July 18 last year the injured party was walking along a street in Banbridge when King struck him in the face and then on the chest.

The defendant told police: “I’m sorry. I just made a mistake.”

Deputy District Judge, Mr John Connolly, decided to adjourn the case to obtain a pre-sentence report.
