Arson attack at Newton Orange Hall

GARDAI have confirmed that they are investigating an arson attack at an Orange hall in Newtowncunningham.

It is understood that the door was burned down and smoke damage has been caused to the hall.

According to a member of the Orange Order, who did not wish to be named, the attack occurred overnight on Friday or in the early hours of Saturday, hours after a new bannerette was dedicated at the hall in connection with the No Surrender Branch Club.

A press officer for the Gardai said: "An investigation is underway into what is believed to be an arson attack that took place in the early hours of May 29. There were no injuries arising out of the incident."
