58 kids waiting for MRI scans

FIFTY eight children in the Western Trust were awaiting a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scan at the start of last month.

Health Minister Edwin Poots said the 58 children were awaiting a scan here at March 8.

He advised they could have expected to wait up to six weeks for the MRI scans.

The Minister was unable to say how many children were transferred by ambulance to the Republic of Ireland for a MRI scan.

Children were categorised as patients aged between 0 and 16 years of age, with adults categorised as patients over 16 years of age.
