Search and rescue specialist’s book-signing at Waterstones

DO training specialist Neil Powell will be signing copies of his book Search Dogs and Me at Waterstones in Ballymena this Saturday.

As a volunteer, Neil has spent over 30 years training dogs to locate people who have become lost on the mountains, trapped and buried in collapsed structures, or who have drowned and are still beneath the water surface.

He is also part of the United Kingdom Fire and Rescue Service team which will travel anywhere in the world to the site of an earthquake or other major disaster.

As part of his role with this team, Neil has responded to four major earthquakes in different parts of the world.

Neil’s book, Search Dogs and Me, tells the remarkable story of one man’s adventures with his life-saving dogs.

Neil and his dogs have participated in countless searches - often in life-threatening situations - and saved many lives in Ireland, the United Kingdom and throughout the world.

But these are not just heroic working dogs, they are much-loved family pets, and they form the heart of the story. We come to know their personalities and quirks, and share in Neil’s heartbreak when they reach the end of their days. Search Dogs and Me is a heartwarming, inspiring and beautifully told story that will melt - and break - the hearts of dog lovers everywhere.

Neil’s book signing will take place this Saturday, May 26 at Waterstones from 1pm to 3pm.
