‘Don’t lose your life over a photo’ warns NI Coastguard - ‘we are urging the public not to take a chance with your life for the sake of a photo’
Calls have been made for people to not lose their lives over a photo by Coleraine Coastguard.
In a social media post they say: “*DON’T LOSE YOUR LIFE FOR A PHOTO *
“We’re seeing a worrying trend on social media of people taking huge risks by climbing over the wall at the Mussenden Temple on the cliff edge above Downhill.
“We are urging the public not to take a chance with your life for the sake of a photo. “
The post adds: “It’s a beautiful location but you can get just as good just as good a picture by staying on the right side of the wall.”
Mussenden Temple is located in the beautiful surroundings of Downhill Demesne near Castlerock in County Londonderry.
It perches dramatically on a 120 ft cliff top, high above the Atlantic Ocean on the north-western coast of Northern Ireland, offering spectacular views westwards over Downhill Strand towards Magilligan Point and County Donegal and to the east Castlerock beach towards Portstewart, Portrush and Fair Head.
