Irish Tenors the hightlight at the Riverside Theatre

COLERAINE’S Riverside Theatre – currently celebrating its 35th anniversary – has its usual mix of events designed to attract as many differing audiences as possible this week.

And the varied bill begins with a show at 8pm on Tuesday, October 30, with tickets free of charge.

The Theatre of Witness Company, based in Derry’s Playhouse Theatre, is returning to Coleraine with its very latest offering entitled Release.

Men who are struggling to come to terms with the legacies of their past share their stories with audiences all over the North, in this production.

The third original Playhouse, Theatre of Witness production, presented in co-operation with Holywell Trust, Release is performed by men who share their extraordinary interrelated stories about their lives during the Troubles and beyond. The performance also includes original music, film and imagery.

But that’s certainly not all. On Thursday, November 1 there’s a fascinating look at the life and work of one of the English language’s most successful and prolific novelists: Charles Dickens.

In The Secret World of Charles Dickens, Ian Keable explores the writer’s love of magic and fascination in spiritualism through his books and his numerous articles and letters - all of which throw an unexpected light on his larger-than-life personality.

The award winning comedian highlights passages that are as funny today as they must have been to Dickens’ adoring public over 100 years ago.

And finally, the week is rounded off with a tremendous musical presentation by The Three Irish Tenors and Star Violinist on Saturday at 8pm.

Ireland’s hottest trio - Declan Kelly, David Martin, Ray O’Hare - promise you a night to remember.

The concert will be packed with the world’s most beautiful and magical feel-good songs, from Sinatra (My Way/New York, New York), Leonard Cohen (Hallelujah) Roy Orbison (Blue Bayou), and Michael Jackson (Heal The World), to Pavarotti (Nessun Dorma) and Elvis (Love Me Tender/Can’t Help Falling in Love) plus a rousing selection of Iish favourites.

Online bookings can be made 24/7 via: www.riversidetheatre.org.uk or by telephone on the staffed booking office on 02870 123 123.
