Hop over to the Island Arts Centre for school’s out fun

WONDERING what to do with the kids during the Half Term or Easter Holidays? Why not hop over to Lisburn’s Island Arts Centre where they have programmed Dr Seuss’ Prescription for February Mid Term Fun.

Each day is packed with Dr Seuss themed arts and crafts workshops, movie screenings and activities. Children aged 4-11 years can select from one or two day options for Thursday 16 and Friday 17 February from 10am-4pm with the option of early drop off and late pick up for working parents and carers.

Mid Term is supposed to be fun for grown-ups too. So grab your seats for family movie magic on the big screen in association with Cinemagic. Entertaining Dr. Seuss treats will include ‘Horton Hears a Who’ (Thursday February 16, 2pm) and ‘The Cat in the Hat’ (Friday February 17, 2pm).

The Island’s Easter Eggstravaganza is a ‘school’s out’ fest with arty antics and movie madness galore. Children aged 4-11 years can sign up for one, two or three days of spring themed Easter holiday Art Clubs. Led by artists, the courses encourage playful, hands-on experiences designed to grow kids’ characters through creativity.

Also during the Easter Holidays there are plenty of family films in association with Cinemagic. Be inspired by the adventures of the Easter Bunny’s wayward teenage son in the hilarious film Hop (Thursday April 12, 2pm) and delve into a wonkalicious treat with the delicious Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (Wednesday April 11, 2pm).

You can also book your golden ticket onto a Family Chocolate Making Workshop (Wednesday April 11, 2-4pm) when the Island brings Aunt Sandra’s Candy Factory to Lisburn.

Learn a bit about where chocolate comes from, find out how it’s made and best of all learn how to make your own delicious chocolate pizza to take away.
