Crown Defenders’ parade was ‘biggest for years in Cloughmills

Crown Defenders Flute Band, Cloughmills have thanked all the bands who took part in their annual parade held on Wednesday 1st August 2012.

A very special thanks must go to constable Anderson Memorial Flute Band, Larne for leading the parade, their style and appearance and playing style on the night was excellent.

A total of 70 bands including the hosts took part in the parade. This is the largest number of bands that have walked the village for a number of years and is very fitting for the host band marking their 25th anniversary year.

Visiting bands from as far as Lisburn, Banbridge, Carrickfergus and as usual a great support from Belfast bands including East Belfast Protestant Boys, Gertrude Star, South Belfast Young Conquerors and Upper Falls Protestant Boys.

A spokesperson from the band explained: “As always it is a pleasure to have a few new bands attending our parade, this year we welcome Aghalee Young Volunteers, Hollywood True Blues and Crumlin Young Loyalists to the village for the first time.

The committee and members of the band would like to express their thanks to all the marshals, collectors and the general public for their continued support.

The band has put in a great deal of effort over the last few year to make sure that the parade remains to be on of the largest in north Antrim.

The total amount rasied on the night was £2614.12 from the street collection.
