Minor works cash for Kilcoan Primary

Kilcoan Primary School in Islandmagee is to benefit from a £124,000 investment from the Department of Education’s minor works scheme.

The funding will be used to replace the existing mobile at the school, and the contract has been awarded to Western Building Systems, based in Dungannon.

Education Minister John O’Dowd said: “A total of 42 minor works projects, amounting to £4.4m were agreed in June, bringing the total funding allocation this year to £23.8 million.

“This investment in the school estate is having a positive impact on pupils, teachers and school staff and provides a boost to the construction industry.”

Work carried out under the minor works scheme ranges from minor repairs to more significant refurbishment projects and extensions.
