Ciaran McHugh, Translink Service Delivery Manager said: “We have taken on board feedback from our customers who have told us they want greater flexibility and choice – indeed many want earlier options in line with flexi time working.

“From September, the increased frequency on the route will include three direct morning services from Ballymena to Belfast at 6.30am, 7am and 7.25am. In addition we are launching a new early bird service leaving Ballymena at 6am that will get passengers into Belfast City Centre before 7.00am. Along with a special early bird fare of just £9 for an adult return ticket, we expect this service will attract passengers that like to avoid rush hour traffic, get into work early allowing them to travel home earlier in the evening.

“Giving our customers a fast, frequent, quality service with great value fares has been at the heart of these changes. With 28 departures every day Monday to Friday from Ballymena via Antrim and 29 from Belfast - a 15- minute frequency during peak hours and a thirty minute frequency off peak - we would also encourage commuters to use Smartlink to make everyday savings for example travelling to Belfast, passengers could save around £44 per month compared to private motoring or they can take advantage of off-peak 1/3 off day returns after 9.30am.”

“Over recent years we have seen more and more people make Goldline their preferred way to travel with a 50% increase in passenger journeys in the last decade,” continued Ciaran. “This is down to enhanced services and great customer care along with our modern comfortable coaches, free on board WiFi, leather seats and added legroom, together with great value tickets ensuring our customers enjoy a top quality travel experience.”

Park and Ride also continues to prove popular, and we are looking forward to the extension to the facility at Ballee over the coming months which will see an extra 30-40 spaces added to the site making it more attractive for our customers to use,” Ciaran concluded.
