Firms told: Prepare to trade in 2013

‘Prepare to Trade’ – that was the call from Derry City Council to local entrepreneurs in the run-up to City of Culture 2013.

Outdoor traders and small business owners were urged to take advantage of a range of outdoor trading opportunities across Derry-Londonderry in 2013.

To support them, Derry City Council hosted a ‘Prepare to Trade 2013’ workshop at the City Hotel on Wednesday October, 17.

A series of speakers outlined how traders can obtain licenses for specific events, the fees and eligibility criteria, as well as discuss how Derry City Council aims to increase visitor numbers to the city centre in 2013.

Representatives from Cavan County Council also outlined their experiences of practical business planning in hosting the Fleadh Cheoil na hEireann.

Peter Appleton, Interim Strategic Director of Development at Derry City Council, said: “The ‘Prepare to Trade 2013’ workshop was a great opportunity for prospective traders to avail of essential information aimed at maximising their outdoor trading potential in the City of Culture celebrations.
