Century of Conflict exhibit

The Museum, which has recently been granted accreditation by the Museums Council, has decided to bring the exhibition into the community by staging it in the Community Building, which is located in Main Street. Through the generosity of collectors, it has been possible to display a unique assortment of objects, some of which have never been displayed in public. These include a large ceremonial sword once displayed in Admiral Von Tirpitz’s office (Von Tirpitz was the German Navy minister at the outbreak of WWI) and a rare wall-hanging presented to Sir Archibald Nye when he was the governor of Madras (Nye took part both the first and second world wars); also on display are helmets, uniforms and artefacts of all sorts. On the same floor there is a smaller, but nevertheless fascinating, exhibition on WW”- this includes rare Japanese Good Luck banners, displayed when soldiers went to war; a rare Nazi railway carriage badge and more.

Opening times Monday, Tuesday, Thursday , Friday. 2-5, 6-9 and Saturday 11-4. Admission is free but visitors can make a donation to Garvagh Museum development fund.
