A day of entertainment in aid of charity

Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Councillor Brian Tierney, is hosting a day of live music to promote local artists and raise money for his Mayor’s charity, Aurora Counselling.

The live music session will take place on Sunday, November 29, from 12noon to 8pm in the Guildhall and will be broadcast live on the Derry Lockdown Crew and What’s On Derry Strabane Facebook pages.

Viewers can enjoy the live music from local artists and will be able to donate to Aurora Counselling via the Just Giving link on the Facebook post.

There will be a total of eight acts performing one-hour sessions from 12pm and they include Alban and Una, Stevie and Bronagh, Flair, Johnny Kay, Gary Curran, Gary Fitzpatrick, Adam Doran, and Fablenna.

Mr Tierney encouraged everyone to tune in on Sunday to help support a worthwhile cause while also getting to enjoy great entertainment from local musicians.

“We’re all missing the opportunity to go out and enjoy live music and it has been an incredibly challenging year for our local musicians as a result,” he said.

“This event is a way to promote our local singers, for people to enjoy their music and for it all to take place in a way that is safe and within the government restrictions. We have so much talent within our district and I think an event like this is exactly what so many of us need to lift our spirits and maybe even get ourselves dancing around the living room.
