With around 16 local schools set to produce another exciting series of races over the testing St Columbs 1,200 metre course.

200 plus runners are expected for the three race programme which starts at 12noon and if the high standards and visible enthusiasm exhibited at the first round in Thornhill College last month is anything to go by, another great day is on the cards.

Registration is at www.athleticsni.org/events and closes this Wednesday, November 26, so all local schools should ensure they get their entries sorted by then.

Perennial performers Broadbridge PS head both the Girls and Boys team standings after round 1 but are being chased hard by Oakgrove and St Patricks in the Girls standings with St Therese, Oakgrove and St Patricks in contention in the Boys section.

Oisin Gallagher and Patrick McLaughlin of St Annes were the top two Boys finishers in Thornhill and with third placer Sam McKeever of Sacred Heart should figure prominently again as should the top three girls, Cara Laverty of Steelstown PS, Toni McCool of St Therese and Sinead O’Hara of Broadbridge.
