North West Junior Zone produced a faultless performance on Saturday to become Irish Junior zone champions for the third consecutive year.
They created their own little peice of history to become the first ever junior zone to win three consecutive irish junior zone championships.
The 12 junior bowlers were all outstanding on Saturday and in a group of four they defeated the junior zones of Western, Monaghan and Mid Ulster comfortably to booked their place in the semi-final.
In the semi-final the NW bowlers were against record holders of the competition Oriel.
The NW junior zone players continue were they left off in the group stages by playing outstanding bowls from the start and set the platform very early in the match taking a commanding lead and never looked in danger of getting beat and ran our winners 35-11 scoreline.
In the final they were to play Mid Tyrone, with the experience of playing in their third consecutive final we were hoping that this would be of a good benefit to our junior team and once again they set about creating this history in a true professional manner and it was never in doubt the outcome of the match. Our team were to see the match out with another convincing victory of 35-10.
Well done to all 12 players who can be very proud of their achievement.
The NW travelled with two teams consisting of 27 players, unheard of in Irish short mat bowls and the blue team did absolutely brilliant winning one game in their group but put a statement out that they will be a forced to be reckoning with in the future.
They would like to thank all of the supporters who made the journey to Belfast.
