Cricket: Meet the Eglinton squad

Eglinton will be hoping that home advantage this weekend will help them secure the Danske Bank Senior Cup.

Professional Oriane Williams and Ireland international Stuart Thompson were in sparkling form in the semi-final win over Brigade.

Simon Olphert - One of the most talented keepers in the north west, Simon has played underage cricket for Ireland and is a solid batsman who likes to occupy the crease.

Andy Pierce - A young player who has broken into the senior side in recent years, Andy is a top order batsman who has a strong technique and has a good set of hands. A current member of the Warriors Academy.

Stuart Thompson - Being a current International Stuart brings real class to the Eglinton side, a batsman who likes to dominate oppositions with a range of shots and an attacking seam bowler. If he’s on form Eglinton will be hard to beat.

Oraine Williams - The overseas man has brought a lot to the Eglinton side this year. Oraine is top athlete who likes to play an attacking brand of cricket with both bat and ball. When he gets going, he can take apart any bowling attack.

Christopher Pierce - The Eglinton skipper is an attacking batsman who can hit a big ball, he could play a pivotal role of he gets going in one of the two innings. Chris was a member of the 2006 Eglinton cup winning squad.

Jamie Millar - Another young lad who has come into the senior side in recent years, Jamie is a strong middle order batsman who is a more than useful medium pace bowler. Jamie is a current member of the Warriors academy.

Karl O’Doherty - Karl is an experienced senior cricketer who is a former captain of the side, with that experience Karl brings a real solidity to the middle order, he also has a very safe pair of hands.

Jonny Gardiner - Jonny was a member of the 2006 cup winning team and is a very important seam bowler. Jonny will be crucial in the middle overs and can also play his part with the bat lower down the order.

Richard Wylie - The most experienced member of the Eglinton side, another player who played in 2006, Richard is a key player for Eglinton bowling his off spin with craft and guile. He is also a more than useful batsman.

Ross Allen - A current member of the Warriors Squad, Ross is a very promising young spinner who has shown great maturity in his bowling over the last few years. He is a pivotal part of Eglinton’s bowling attack and a more than useful batsman.

Andy Millar - Andy is a clean striking left handed batsman who hits the ball very hard. He is also an accurate medium pace bowler who can slow down the run rate and pick up wickets.

Richard Stewart - Ricky is another experienced member of the Eglinton squad, having bowled in many a big game before, he will not be fazed if called upon. Ricky is an attacking bowler who can swing the ball.

Steven McCloskey - Steven is left arm off spinner who has stacks of senior experience. Steven is a crafty bowler who is also very agile in the field. As well as this he is an attacking lower order batsman.

Scott Adair - Scott is left handed batsman who can score very quickly once he gets in. As well as this he is an excellent fielder who bowls left arm medium pace. Having scored lots of runs for the seconds he will be pushing for a cup final spot.
