Once again Faughan Valley Golf Club had an extremely busy week of events.
In the midweek competition Matthew Smyth won a £50 voucher on sheet one with an impressive score of 40 points while the winner on sheet two was Geoff Bratton (16) also scoring an excellent 40 points.
On Saturday the club ran its monthly medal competition in which the winner was Kevin Payne (10) with 62 gross.
In second spot was Mark Kennedy (17) with 66 gross and in third spot was Colin Robinson (18) with 69 points. The winner of the sweep on that day was Niall McTaggart.
Also on Saturday, Claudy Rovers FC held a four man classic which was well supported by both members of the team as well as members of the club.
The winning team comprised of club members Syl Marshall, Hugh Duffy, Malcolm Riddell and David Kilgore with a total points score of 101. In second spot were Alex Storey, Thomas Stevenson, Patrick Tuohy and John Kane with a score of 100 points and taking third spot was the team of Steven Nicholl, Lewis Nicholl, Tommy Donnell and Alan Donnell with a score of 99 points.
The longest drive was won by Lee O’Connor while the winners of the five ‘closest-to-the-pin’ competitions were Kevin Hunter, Nail McTaggart, Eoghan Brolly, David Hyndman and Stuart Gauld.
In Sunday’s Open Stableford competition the winner was Andrew Craig (14) with 40 points. Second and third places were decided on a Break-Of-Tie between Gerald McDaid (22) and Paul Hyndman (18), who both carded 37 points. Gerald took second spot with a superior score on the back nine. There were two winners in the sweep: Michael McLaughlin and Derek Wylie.
This coming week the club have the mid-week competition running again and on Saturday there is the ever popular format of a two-man foursomes competition.
On Sunday, the club is hosting an Open Stableford competition.
