Another busy week at Roe Park Golf Club saw an Open Stableford, two club Stableford competitions and a Monthly Medal.

First up was the May Day Bank Holiday Open Stableford with some fantastic prizes to be won courtesy of sponsor Frank Owens Bar. Liam Berryman scored a superb 41 points to take the win and leave the rest of the field in his wake.

Martin Rafferty was the nearest challenger with 38 points, claiming the runner-up spot ahead of Stephen Roddy from Castlerock Golf Club. Stephen also had 38 points but was just beaten into third place on count back.

Jason Thompson continued his superb form winning the gross prize with 33 points.

Andy Young won the front nine with 21 points and Alex Steele won the back nine with 20 points.

Nearest the Pins were won by Liam Berryman and Arnie Simpson at the 9th and 17th holes respectively.

Saturday saw the second Monthly Medal competition of the season with superb prizes to be won thanks to sponsors S.J. Mitchell & Co. Young Jamie Cochrane is making big strides this season taking the win after shooting a superb nett round of 66.

Kevin Boyd placed second with a nett 67 and Stephen Lunn was third with a nett 68.

Andy Young will be happy with his start to the Golfer of the Year campaign as he shot a six over round of 76 to claim the gross prize.

Thursday’s Club Stableford again saw a huge turnout as Lee McIlroy took the victory scoring a fine 40 points.

William McLaughlin continues to improve after a poor start to his season as he finished second scoring 39 points.

Andy Young continues to feature amongst the prizes, claiming third place with 37 points and will no doubt feature at the top of the Golfer of the Year leader board next week.

In other news the Pierce Purcell and Ulster Fourball teams were in action at Kilrea and Balmoral golf clubs respectively in the hope of progressing to the next round.

The Pierce Purcell team just missed out on qualifying for the next round as they finished sixth in tough conditions needing a top four finish to go through.

The Ulster Fourball team were beaten by 3.5 points to 1.5 points but will hope to overturn that result at home next week.

Golfer of the Year, sponsored by Resident PGA Professional Michael McCrudden, continues as usual with club stableford competitions on Thursday and Sunday.

Roe Park will also be hosting a Club Fundraiser Open Stableford on Saturday with amazing prizes provided by sponsors DMC Mortgages & Properties.
