With one round to play in the 2015 Senior Golfer of the Year at Foyle, David Stevenson holds a slender three point lead with anyone of six contenders in with a realistic chance of winning the coveted title.
Second at the minute is Nat Roche on 104 points, third is Joe Kilroy on 103 points, James Sheehan on 102 points is fourth, while both James McGrotty and John Spence are currently on 96 points.
The 2015 P & L Electrics Golfer of the Year at Foyle has turned into a very competitive competition, with five rounds to play three points separate the leading contenders with the three times winner of title Cormac McGeady tied with Scott Kennedy on 376 points, Gary Kennedy is three points adrift in third place, making for an interesting finish.
Kevin McDermott is currently on 363 points and sitting in fourth spot, fifth place is Kieran Duffy on 358 points, Michael Duffy on 357 points is sixth and John A Lafferty also on 357 points is seventh.
Saturday’s Foyle Hospice Charity Open Stableford was well supported with strong winds making scoring difficult.
But Colm McCay (22) struck a blow for the higher handicappers and a first competition win as he returned a fine 39 points winning score two points clear of runner up Damien Kivelehan (9) with third placed Cathal O’Donnell (12) a further two points adrift.
Gross winner was Scott Kennedy after he scored 30 points, the visitor’s prize went to Kevin Sweeney (18) after scoring 32 points.
The back nine went to Garvin McGuigan (14) after scoring 19 points; Stuart Gauld was nearest the pin and Declan McKinney hit the longest drive. While Scott Kennedy (3) with 39 points won Friday’s Open.
