The Turkey & Bottle Series of club competitions got underway last week at Roe Park along with the expected cold, wet and windy weather.
With ‘The Meat Locker’ sponsoring this years’ event it was all to play for as members scrambled to get a good, solid score under their belts.
First up was the Club Stableford on Thursday which saw only the hardiest golfers brave the monsoon like conditions.
Michael Mullan showed he is a man for all seasons as he scored 31 points to take the victory with Paddy Kealey taking the runner-up spot.
Saturday’s Club Stableford was played in slightly better conditions with most players going out early to beat the worst of the weather.
Joe Connor showed them how it’s done as he scored a superb round of four over par and 38 points to take a deserved victory. His round also included one birdie and ten pars.
Another seasoned golfer, Malcolm Stuart also had an excellent round, scoring 37 points to take the runner-up spot.
The play-off’s for The Autumn Pairs League sponsored by Eglinton Construction have been decided with one pair now through to the final having already played and won their match.
Kieran and Liam Berryman defeated Neil Mullan and William McLaughlin to set up a final against either Colin Harkin and Martin McVeigh or Stephen Boyd and Shea Hogg who play their match this coming week.
This coming week also sees the Turkey and Bottle Series continue with Club Stableford competitions on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.
