Having spent a week fine tuning his game in the Algarve, the good work paid off for Norman Kane (15) at City of Derry on Saturday’s Confined Stableford competition.
Norman recorded 35 points over the Prehen Course, winning by 1 shot over Stephen Loughlin (15) on a break of tie with Rob Jefferson (9).
Mark Sheridan (13) spreadeagled the field in this weeks Sunday Society. In very poor weather he amassed a fantastic score of 36 points winning by a clear 5 shots.
Second spot was settled after a break of tie finish with P Glackin (8) just pipping T McCann after the pair finished on 31 points.
The break of tie format was used to great effect this week as four players finished exactly on 34 points in the Thursday Society Competition.
Winner on the day was former Junior Convener, Noel Kehoe (16) followed by Colin Jeffrey (5) and John Hamilton (6).
Paul Concannon was the unlucky player who missed out.
Members are reminded that that tomorrow’s competition is the second major of the year, the Jim Bresland Trophy with five places on offer.
The Cabaret Night at Prehen with Upbeat featuring Mickey Doherty starting at 9.30pm takes place on Friday night.
Tickets can be purchased at the door or from the bar (02871346369), £5 and everyone welcome.
On Saturday the Confined competition is down for decision and the Sunday Society competition is played for 24 hours later.
Meanwhile the Faughan Valley ladies Halloween competition was won by Kathleen Cooke (27) after she finished with 39 points and Catherine O’Neil (25) with 35 points was second.
