Hundreds of cyclists expected in Derry this weekend for '˜Inishowen 100'

Foyle Cycling Club's annual Inishowen 100 sportive takes place this coming Sunday with between 300-400 cyclists due to take part (over 250 have already pre-signed).

The number riding in 2016 is on schedule to be the largest field in recent years. Riders from Antrim, Armagh, Ballina, Belfast, Bray, Dublin, Lisburn Naas, Omagh, Westport are due in Derry over the weekend to tackle one of the toughest cycling sportives in Ireland.

Sign-on commences at the Sports Complex on Sunday morning at 7.30am. Riders will depart along the Buncrana Road towards Buncrana, continuing on to Mail Head via Dunree and Mamore Gap, before dropping into Kinnego Bay via Glengad, and returning to Derry along the main Derry-Moville road from Shroove. Roads affected include: R231, R238, R241, R242, R243, Racecourse Road and the A2.

Road users are asked to give wide berth when passing cyclists on the main roads leading into Derry and around Inishowen; and to faciliate marshals who will operate at key junctions along the route. Riders will be on the roads between 08.30 and 16.00.
