President’s Day cancelled

THE ladies Faughan Valley competition this week was won after a break of tie finish by Marion Sayers (26) after she scored 34 points and Eileen Robb (17) who also scored 34 points was second and Kathleen Cooke (26) who finished with 32 points was third.

Unfortunately, Faughan Valley Golf Club announced that Trevor Peace’s President’s Day which was scheduled for Saturday was postponed due to extreme weather conditions and has been re-arranged for Saturday, July 7.

Six handicapper David Devine was the winner of Faughan Valley’s Mid Week Open with a score of 38 points, while 13 handicapper Chris Nutt took second spot after a BOT finish from 20 handicapper Niall O’Connor both carding 37 points.

The winners of the Holmepatrick Cup was Barney O’Connor and Thomas Parkhill, who beat Alan Gault and Eoghan Brolly on a BOT both teams carding 42 points and in third spot was Chris Nutt and Paul Duffy with 40 points.

The winning team will now play in the county final at City of Derry on Friday, July 20 teeing off at 2.25pm, with a place in the Provincial finals at Ballyliffin up for grabs.

The competitions for this weekend are on Saturday Open Strokeplay and on Sunday a Stableford Competition takes centre stage.
