Goals from Brian Devine and Aidy O’Kane ensured the First Division champions ran out deserved winners.

Disappointingly for BB, who were looking to win the City Cup for the first time ever, they never really looked like a side who were going to end their jinx.

Don Olphert will also have been disappointed by Joe McCready’s poor showing, the striker just wasn’t at the races and was substituted in the second half.

As for Lisahally they were a side who throughout the final and the entire season just played like a team who have a great spirit and that team-spirit mean they have a chance of completing a remarkable campaign.

They took the lead on 36 minutes through the penalty spot with Brian Devine making no mistake from 12 yards, hammering home past Steven Scroggie, after referee Cyril Hargan and his assistant agreed that Jordan Greer had handled the ball inside the box.

The final was summed up in the space of 60 seconds just before the hour mark when O’Kane made a remarkable last ditch tackle to deny McCready a certain goal, then incredibly O’Kane raced into the BB box to head home Paul Lowry’s teasing centre.

Moments later Gary Collette was inches away from pulling one back for BB and McCready fired over from close range.

As BB continued to push forward in search of getting a goal back in the closing stages they went close but Grant Garden saw his effort blocked by man of the match Jai White, while Jack Boyd failed to test Lisahally goalkeeper Kevin Duddy when well placed.

After the final whistle joint manager Rory Kirk was delighted by his side’s performance.
“We knew it we played to our strengths it was going to take a very good team to beat us,” he stated.
“We proved that tonight, we knew if we kept their front men quiet we would be in the game.
“We always think we can score goals. I think the goal Aidy O’Kane scored was unbelievable, I don’t know where he got that finish from. That sealed the game for us.

“There were Lisahally players playing for other clubs across the North West and we got them all back this year to play for their own club and so far it has been a great year, but the season isn’t over yet.”
