INSTITUTE: Deery urges his players to relax

Institute manager Kevin Deery is warning his players that they need to prepare to roll their sleeves up and then earn the right to play their attractive football.

Deery felt his side weren’t at their best at Warrenpoint Town last weekend and they’ll need to raise their game for the visit of Harland & Wolff Welders, this Saturday (KO 3pm).

“We are going to be chomping at the bit to go this weekend against the Welders,” he said.
“It’s a tough game again and no matter what way you look at it they finished second in the league last season, so we can’t think that we are the team. We have to earn the right this season again.

“Look in a game of football you are never given the right to win a match, you have to earn it.

“Last season it was evident to see that we took a while to get our first victory, but we don’t want that creeping in because that’s not the case as we have a whole new group of players.”

Deery is hoping last season’s form at Drumahoe continues this campaign and he’ll be telling his players ahead of the Welders game to relax and do what they are good at.

“Obviously with us being at home we have to take full advantage of that and last season we were happy with our home form,” he said.

“I don’t think we have too many defeats, so we’ll be looking to get a good win and get our season up and running.

“We should be nice relaxed and focused and looking to put on a show in our first home of the season.

“I don’t want the boys to be too up tight and forget to do what we are good at, so that’ll be my message to the players, lets go and enjoy our first home game of the season and make sure that we play to our full potential.

“I feel if we do that then we should get a positive result.”
