DERRY City have signed former Shelbourne winger, Paddy Kavanagh at the third attempt.

The player, who won a championship with Shamrock Rovers, has signed a one-year deal.

He told Sentinel Sport as he arrived in the city today to sign the contract, that he has come to Derry City “to win things”.

He said: “That’s why I’m here, I want to win things. Derry showed last year they were able to win the cup; why not win the league next year? That’s where my ambition lies.

“I’m not coming up here for the good of my health; I have won a league and I have won a Setanta Cup with Rovers and I want to win the league again.”
