For the second week running Derry City manager Peter Hutton is sweating on the fitness of first choice goalkeeper Gerard Doherty.

He’s facing a race against time to be fit for Saturday’s trip to Sligo Rovers, kick-off 7.45pm.

Doherty continues to struggle with back problem and he also picked a knee injury during the week, but Hutton is hoping his goalkeeper passes a late fitness test.

Also doubtful is Shaun Kelly and Barry McNamee, while Seanan Clucas is still waiting on his international clearance to be sorted.

Unfortunately Stephen Dooley remains on the treatment table with a back problem, but new signing Anthony Elding returned to training and duo Cillian Morrison and Nathan Boyle are also back in the squad after coming through an Ulster Senior League game last weekend.

Hutton spoke to Sentinel Sport’s Editor Kevin McLaughlin, after training today.

Saturday evening’s game will be live on both Radio Foyle and Drive 105’s Match Night Live from 7.30pm.
