CYCLING: Derry cycling club nominated for All-Ireland award
Foyle Cycling Club has been shortlisted for '˜Club of the Year' in Cycling Ireland's 2016 awards list.
The list, which was published at lunchtime on Thursday, sees Foyle going up against clubs from Athlone, Bray, Dublin, Kanturk and Lisburn. All 29,000 members of Cycling Ireland will have a chance to vote in the process but
Foyle PRO, Ronan Gallagher, said that the club was delighted with its nomination.
‘This is fantastic news, not just for Foyle but also for cycling in Derry and the city of Derry,” said Ronan, “It’s a great honour to be shortlisted with some of the best clubs in Ireland and, fingers crossed, we might just lift the top award.’
The Club has organised competitive and leisure activities in 2016, including the Adrian Mullan Memorial Sportive, Inishowen 100, Ulster 10-mile Time Trial, the Ulster Road Race Championships and the forthcoming Ulster Cyclocross, due to be held in St Columb’s Park on October 30th.
