Scottish umpires exchange visit proves big success

There were a couple of new faces in the North West on Friday evening as Scottish umpires Willie Ferguson and Ryan Milne took charge of the Faughan Valley Cup game between Brigade and Newbuildings at Beechgrove.

Ryan has been in the NW before as a scorer on the European panel and it was there that he met NW Umpires Chairman, Roly Black, and when the opportunity arose to come across to do a game, the pair were happy to oblige.

The original plan was that they would settle in at their hotel on Friday evening before their respective matches on Saturday; however Noel Dunn wasn’t long in finding a game for them.

Neither man was tested too rigorously with Newbuildings shot out for just 34 as Brigade cruised to an eight wicket win.

Willie is a member of the Strathmore club and Ryan’s from Forfarshire.
