If you've deposited funds into Premium Bonds, now is the time to check whether you've got lucky, with new winners announced this month.

Premium bonds are lottery bonds run by the National Savings and Investment company (NS&I) which offers Brits the opportunity to win huge monetary prizes as well as build up savings.

With the NS&I backed by the government, funds deposited into Premium Bonds are 100 percent safe, and offer the chance to win prizes of up to £1 million in monthly draws.

September's prize fund was worth a total of £110 million, and bond holders can easily check whether they've struck it lucky.

How do I check if I've won?

To check whether you've won anything in September's draw, you can log onto the official NS&I website and use the prize checker tool to see if you've struck it lucky this month.

All you have to do is enter your holder's number, with the tool doing the rest of the work for you.

Alternatively, you can see if you've won through the NS&I smartphone app, or through Amazon Alexa's prize checker function.

This month, two people have found themselves millionaires thanks to their Premium Bonds.

The first was a bond holder from Wales, who had £17,745 invested, while the second lucky millionaire was a woman from South Scotland.

Her winning bond number was 93XD777211, and she had a total of £10,000 invested in Premium Bonds.

The winning bond was one she'd purchased 17 years ago, worth £5,000.

3.8 million prizes have been handed out this month. While not all were such large sums, there were a number of significant sums handed out.

One lucky bond holder became £100,000 richer on a premium bond valued at just £50.

It's estimated that around 22 million Brits own Premium Bonds, with a whopping £91 billion invested into them.

The more Premium Bonds you buy, the greater your chances of winning.
