DUP Alderman Graham Warke says he’s 100 per cent behind the residents of Magheramason in their campaign for a play park.
He said it should be top of the agenda for Derry City and Strabane District Council.
“I will give this project 100 per cent and it is very important that young people in the Magheramason have play facilities in their community, playing outside is not just about letting off steam,” said Alderman Warke.
“It is a vital part of childhood that helps children develop physical strength, coordination and balance. It can also provide opportunities for children to learn and develop,” said the representative for the Faughan District Electoral Area.
He said residents welcomed the announcement of funding for Strathfoyle but want parity.
“In light of the recent announcement of the funding for the play park in Strathfoyle, the residents of Magheramason welcome the announcement that Derry City and Strabane District Council has funded the project and hope that Magheramason will get the same treatment as they have been campaigning for the last 5 years with Strabane District Council,” he said.
