Time running out for P1 place applications

Is your child starting Primary School in the Londonderry, Limavady or Strabane areas in the next school year, which will begin in September 2015?

Parents across the entire North West are being asked by the local education authorities to take steps now in order to apply for first preference places for their children.

The Western Education and Library Board’s School Admissions Office would like to remind parents/guardians of the closing date, 12noon on Wednesday, January 14, for receipt of official application forms by first Preference Primary Schools, for children commencing Primary 1 and Reception Classes in primary school education in September 2015.

Only one application form should be completed for those children starting primary school, listed in order of preference.

The Western Education and Library Board has also advised that some primary schools are holding Open Days/Evenings for parents/guardians and children. For further details on local open days turn to Page 6.

If you have not already contacted the Principal of your first preference Primary School regarding the admissions procedure, the Board is urging parents to please do so now to request an application form and Admissions Booklet – ‘A Guide for Parents.’

Please return the completed form and Birth Certificate to the first preference Primary School by the closing date as above, otherwise the application will be treated as a “late” application.

Application forms and Admissions booklets by District Council area can be obtained online by visiting the Board’s website at www.welbni.org. Once there select Admission to Schools on the homepage.

Copies may also be obtained, on request, from the School Admissions Office at WELB Headquarters or from local Libraries.
