Leading cast members of Star Wars have touched down in Northern Ireland this afternoon.
Mark Hamill who plays Luke Skywalker was all smiles and greeted fans as he arrived at Belfast International Airport.
Other leading actors Daisy Ridley, who plays Rey, and Adam Driver, who plays Kylo Ren, have also arrived ahead of filming, as has director Rian Johnson, in news that is likely to send fans into overdrive.
The arrivals of the main stars in the new blockbuster will add to the building excitement locally as filming gets under way around the Bamba’s Crown area of Malin Head in County Donegal.
It is now thought the cast may travel via Derry to Ireland’s most northerly point this evening to begin filming.
A large part of Malin Head is already in lockdown ahead of filming over the weekend, but it has’t stop fans from across Ireland and abroad gathering at Malin Head.
A major construction operation has been under way there, amid tight security, to recreate the Millennium Falcon for the new Star Wars: Episode VIII movie, which is due to be released in 2017.
